In our ward a young man did his Eagle scout project by having kindness for a day (he actually did it all week long).  He went and got donuts that were donated and stood on the corners (his friends too) and handed out donuts to those at the red light.  He got balloons donated and delivered them to some children in the hospital.  He had some flowers donated and he delivered them to assisted living homes.  The one that touched our lives directly was the activity he chose for the youth to do on Wednesday night.  He had some cookies donated and packaged them in 1/2 dozens.  He sent the girls and the guys down the block. (we live in Nebraska so very few LDS members).  My daughter Adrienne and her friend Dany walked down the street.  They stopped by a nearby house...no one answered.  She was going to stop at the next house but felt impressed to go to the house with the VW bug outside of it.  She reluctantly walked up, the door was open so she KNEW someone would be there.  NO copping out this time.  She rang the bell.  She waited.  A young lady in her 30's answered the door.  Perky Adrienne saying,  Hello, we want to spread the kindness so we thought we would bring you some chocolate chip cookies.  the young lady started to cry.  When she got her composure she said,  "My mom past away one week ago today!  and I was just missing her.  I said to myself.  If I could just have her chocolate chip cookies I would be fine"  Adrienne was an answer to this young lady's desperate plea to feel that Mom was watching over her.  what a great day for Adrienne, she was so excited to share that very spiritual story with me and with others.  Be that instrument in the Lord's hands!  Be KIND! I collected articles from magazines and quotes about love, laughter, and friendship and save them. Then one day I purchased a blank book from a Dollar Tree store, and put a variety of things into the book to cheer a friend up. Also, I used some scriptures and colorful stickers.  "When I first moved into my new ward, I felt like an outsider.  I wanted some sisters to talk to.  I really have to push myself to be outgoing.  So, from that experience, I decided to be friendly to the new sisters that move into our ward.  We seem to have an abundance, as we are close to a university.  It doesn’t sound like much, but I know that a friendly face and some welcoming words are needed when starting out someplace new."  (From G.  The morning of my mothers funeral, a dear friend brought us 2 hot baked egg casseroles, juice and cut fruit to help feed my family and visiting relatives.  SO SWEET.  I probably wouldn't even have eaten otherwise!   From that sweet kindness, I passed it along recently for several families in my ward needing 'help' all at the same time. I knew that dinners were being brought in, so instead I took quick breakfast foods.  Pre-bottled juice, bagels, cream cheese, granola bars, instant oatmeal, frozen waffles, etc.  (From Kathee - posted April 12, 2008)
