Self Reliance - Project Noah
Credit Unknown

We opened with the song: "
Did You Think To Save?"  Sang to the tune of "Did You Think To Pray?" They LOVED it!  They were smiling so much during the song.  It was so cute.

We had our teacher give the lesson on Self Reliance and kick off Project "Noah."  Our first class was on Food Storage.  The Sister that gave this lesson made it so fun and she brought lots of handouts and decorated her table with lots of Noah's Ark decorations.  She had her stuff labeled like a box of salt said....you are the "salt" of the earth.  Flashlight...."light" up your life.  Can of soup... "You are "souper" ...Just a bunch of different things.  I made sure everyone got something.  I loved the idea of tossing them out.  I could not believe the Sisters that asked questions and kept everything light and interesting.  It is something that we will keep giving tips out every month.  We challenged the Sisters to start with the weekly $5.00 a week plan.

I had invited a sister in the Branch that is a nurse to speak on women's heath and basic first aid, but she had quite a bit of material and we decided to let her present it another month.  She was okay with that for sure.

I then did the
"The Parable of the Bucket"
and then told the sisters we would be starting a "Friendship Bucket."  (Here is the information on our Friendship bucket...)

I put this poem in the Bucket....

This little "Friendship Bucket" is meant to say,
Love from a sister, in just her own way.
It's filled with items she hopes you will treasure,
That will bring your day some joy beyond measure.
Next choose a sister you'd like to know better,
And fill it with something that you'd like to get her.
It doesn't have to be fancy or cost a lot.
It can be something you've already got.
Just let it be a message from your heart.
For it's a great way for friendship to start!
P. S. Don't forget to sign this card,
So the love will reach all sisters in our Branch!

A BUCKET FULL OF FRIENDSHIP
-By Ann Margetson

See how many friends you have, so many that really care,
Forever friends the kind that in some way will always be there,
See all the postcards sent here, dear _______, just for you,
Please come to realize that you are special and truly loved too.
Smile and be happy and send all those sad thoughts far away.
Read all these post cards, people you don't know want to say,
'We love you and care for you' then you may realize
That you are a precious child of God, a true and worthwhile prize.
