Witch Broom Treat Bags

I cannot take credit for the idea.  My friend Marcy saw this idea in a magazine.  However, I sure had fun making these for my friends and Visiting Teaching sisters and thought I would share the finished product.  It is simple to make.

For each broom, you'll need:

1 stick
1 brown paper lunch bag
piece of tissue paper (mine was yellow because that's all I had)
raffia or something to tie the bag shut
treats

First, cut the bag as shown...going just to the base of the bag (not past).

Then, open the bag and lay the tissue paper inside the base of the bag.  I cut my tissue paper down first.  Then, put the treats inside the tissue paper.  The next part will take another person to help you out...it makes it easier anyway.  Place the stick in the center of the treat bag and pull everything up and use your raffia to tie it shut.  This is where it is extremely helpful to have a stick with a few notches toward the bottom so the stick won't slip right out of the bag.  So a bumpy stick is good!!

It should look like the picture above.  After you have tied it shut, fold the flaps over to make it look like a witches broom.

Whala.  You are finished.  For my Visiting Teaching sisters, I printed out this FHE lesson on Halloween called, "Don't be tricked" and gave it to them with it.  For my treats, I made this fun Halloween recipe, "Black Licorice Caramels".  They were a lot of fun to make and quite festive!
