Halloween Carnival
from the Scriptures

This activity could be done on a small or large scale.  It could be used
as a Quarterly Activity, Ward Activity or Family Party!

Ideas are by: Nancy Wells, Shelley Clines, Sheila Jones & Melanie Day

Everyone was encouraged to come dressed as their favorite scripture character

 Adam and Eve's Apple Bobbing

Brother of Jared Barge Race - let the kids blow paper boats (folded them there) with straws in rain gutters like the Boy Scouts do for their water races.

Jonah and the whale - let the children go fishing and get a small prize attached to the end of their rod.

Pin the nose on Nephi.

Daniel in the Lion's Den - Draw some lions on large pieces of cardboard.  Cut holes for their mouths and let the kids throw bean bags through the holes.

Malachi's Tithing Toss - Have gold chocolate money coins or pretend plastic money from the dollar store.  Set up paper cups (for older children) or bowls (for young children) for them to toss their coins in.  Make each cup/bowl worth so many points depending on how close it is to where they are standing.  Their prize could be a coupon called "Malachi's Money" to be redeemed at another booth for an activity or prize.

Wandering Israelite Cup-Cake Walk - they always felt they were going in circles

Gadianton basketball (a sheet over a child's size basketball hoop with a  mouth cut out so the balls can go in hoop, and two black paper eyes on  the backboard the little tykes brand has a more rounded top)

Noah - you could do a room search where they children have to locate the two animals.  Hide or separate each pair and have them locate them or give them a paper that has the animals hidden and they have to circle them.

Joshua and the battle of Jericho- cardboard boxes made into walls, then give the kids a kazoo (or other noise maker) and walk around the walls blowing on the kazoos until the walls fall down.

Moses' journey in the desert - (outside) have a sand pile that the kids find prizes or pennies in.

Garden of Eden - have some kind of bobbing for apples or make an apple treat.

Make a Goliath out of cardboard and let the kids sling pom poms or mini marshmallows at him, etc.

Spooky Service - have everyone bring a pumpkin to decorate and take them to a rest home, hospital or shelter.

(Optional) At the end we let the Children of Israel gather manna in the wilderness (trick or treat).
