Lesson on the Godhead
by Kimberly Allen Gibbons

Last week I did a lesson on the Godhead.  I printed pictures of Christ and Heavenly Father from the online Friend, cut them out, and wrote "Holy Ghost" on another paper.  We talked about characteristics of all three members.  Then I had the family stand at the bottom of the stairs.  I put about 5 pillows between the top of the stairs and the family room.  Each family member was given a characteristic and needed to say which member I was describing.  If they answered correctly, they rolled a die. We used a 0 - 5 die from my school teaching days. If they rolled a "5" they had to back down to the bottom of the stairs.  If they rolled 0 - 4, they advanced that many stairs.  (It was really quite funny that everyone kept rolling a 5.  My little boy would fly down the stairs on his tummy and kept trying to roll a 5 just so he could go down again. Finally I had to scratch out that rule.)  When they finally got to the top of the stairs, the pillows acted as "steps."  Every time someone rolled a 0, they didn't move, but we all recited the 1st Article of Faith.  It was amazing that they all got to the family room within one roll of each other.  (My plan for a scenario when someone made it to the family room way ahead of the others would be for him/her to answer the question, roll, and then give his steps to other family members to "help" them along.  That way they are working together to get us all to the finish line.)
