Our Stake is really pushing for all our wards to have their three month food storage in place. In our ward in last months 5th Sunday lesson we were admonished to make it a goal, so our family is trying to follow the counsel of the prophet. I gathered the family for FHE on Monday and gave a lesson on Noah and being prepared as an introduction to Food Storage. My family consists of me, my husband, my 4 yr old daughter and 1 yr old son. I made this food storage piggy bank and told the family that all the loose change we found on the floor or in the laundry was going to be placed in our bank so we could total it up and buy something a week. Even if it totals a dollar you can buy a canned good with that. Well today my daughter was cleaning her room and she excitedly came to me with a nickel and said “mommy look what I found for our food storage bank!” I told her great put it in our bank. I was pleased to know that she actually listened and is excited about the idea. What a great teaching tool our family can use to be obedient to our prophet’s counsel. Anyways thought someone would like to use the idea. I covered a small child’s shoe box with paper and labeled it. I also added a quote about the importance of food storage so we could read it frequently. I am sure people could use jars or anything that can be turned into a piggy bank!!!
