I did a handout that was very easy but is very
effective. They still have it with them every Sunday. What I did was type out
the word Faith on a business card without dotting the i. I dotted the i
with a grain of mustard seed. (Idea by Angela Cannon)
Phone Card (use clipart of a phone card) and attach the saying, "Your faith will
increase as you phone home regularly."
Planting Kit - Each kit will include 2 dixie cups,
a snack-sized bag of soil ( not for eating! ), three mystery seeds, and this
rhyme: "You have a project to do. A cup, some soil,... and mystery seeds.
You can plant like faithful deeds and watch to see what soon will grow.
The blessings of faith we don't always know, but the seeds are likely to grow
and sprout, just as blessings from FAITH come out!"

FROG: Fully Rely On God
from Latter-Day Village
Great faith has a short shelf life by Kim Nelson
I started out by asking the girls questions like: What do
you do if you are hungry? What do you do in the morning before going to
school? etc. and then asked them if it was enough just to know about these
things, they needed to do something in order for each task to be met. What if
you saw someone drowning and there was a lifesaving ring next to you? You would
have to throw it in, in order to save the person. Just like our faith we need
to be doing something in order for our faith to grow. I read a quote by John
Taylor that talked about faith being dead without works... And then in the end I
asked them all to be their own lifesaver by doing things to make their faith
grow. As a handout I made a bookmark for each of them with the quote on it
and then handed them each a white lifesaver candy. Quote: "Faith without
works being dead, it is evident that living faith.....is that which not only
believes in God, but acts upon that belief. It is not only the cause of action,
but includes both cause and action. Or in other words, it is belief or faith
made perfect by works." -John Taylor Next week I am going to cut
some 2 by 2 blocks of wood and gift wrap them up in white paper and beautiful
bows and ribbon. And talk about faith being a gift from God and attach a card
to it with a quote about faith being a gift from God. (Laura in MN)

Blow on a feather or a pinwheel. Ask the children
if they can see the wind that is moving the feather. Ask them if they know that
the wind is really moving the feather. Explain that we do not have to see
something to have faith.

I had a bag of Hershey Kisses on the table. I asked
one student to come up and look in the bag. He did. I told him he could smell it
as well. He did. Then I told him to go back and sit down and tell everyone else
what was in the bag. He said, "Kisses!" excitedly. I asked the rest of the class
if they believed that there were kisses in the bag. They said they did. I asked
them why they believed it? They didn't see it for themselves. They didn't smell
it. All they had to go on, was the boys' word. How did they know that there were
really kisses in the bag? One boy raised his hand and said, "Because we have
faith that he's telling the truth." Then I had them turn to the verse in
Alma 32 where it says "faith is not a perfect knowledge of things."

Refreshment Idea - We're baking individual
miniature cheesecakes (in those cupcake size metal cups) and putting a white

is super easy, as the "crust" is a Nilla Vanilla wafer that you just put in the
bottom!, and it's simple to serve and clean up. (Jeanni Gould)
