David and Goliath Craft/Handout

David and Goliath
Ideas: Goliath was over nine feet tall.  Take some butcher paper and draw a person nine feet tall.  Tape to the wall to give a visual of how tall this is.  (I did this for my Sunday School class one year and it turned out awesome! - If you would like an example of this
click here)  Goliath's armor weighed about 125 pounds.  Give class an idea of tings that weigh 125 pounds (individually or collectively).  I.e. 125 pounds would be ___ children or ____ pumpkins, etc.)  For older children, have them subtract their weight from 125.  How many children would it take to equal Goliath's armor?

ake cookies shaped like slingshots. (Roll cookie dough out and form into a Y shape.) Use string licorice for the strap. (children like red better) Set "string" in as soon as cookies are out of the oven. For the stones use Whoppers (malt balls).
Stream and Stones: A piece of celery with peanut butter in the "stream" and five raisins tucked into the peanut butter to represent the stones. If the kids won't eat that or you haven't got time to do it, count out five round crackers for stones.
