You think you have it
bad?
from LDSLiving.com
You think your curfew is bad? Here are some of the
ways teens date in countries around the world.
Australia
Most teens go out in large groups and don't pair off until they are eighteen
or nineteen years old. Girls are often the ones to ask out the boys and pay
for the date, too. They frequent dinner parties, barbeques, or head to the
beach.
Afghanistan
Parents arrange most marriages in Afghanistan, so dating and opportunities
to meet are rare. Boys and girls even attend separate schools. Girls have a
7:00 p.m. curfew and boys, 11:00 p.m.
Europe
Dating is usually a group event in Europe. In Finland, as many as thirty
teens may go to a movie together. In Spain, teens join a pandilla, a club or
a group of friends with the same interests, like hiking, swimming, or
reading. Dating is one-on-one; girls and boys ask each other out and split
the cost.
Iran
It is against the law to date in Iran. Teens are kept separate until they
are old enough to be married, then their families introduce them to each
other and sometimes a courtship may follow.
Japan and Korea
In Japan and Korea, most high school teens don't date or hang out, but spend
their time studying. Dating only begins in college, when only boys do the
asking and pay for the dates.
