Three Wiseman Script
by Amy Wheelwright / ga11132007

I wrote this a few years ago for our ward party, The Bishopric were the 3 wise men, dressed in costume.  Hope this helps, its not too long.

Wiseman #1  -  We are the Three Wise Men and we have traveled far to tell you our story.

Wiseman #2  -  When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Herod was the king.  We traveled from the east to Jerusalem, and when we arrived we asked,” “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east and have come to worship him.”

Wiseman #3 -  When King Herod heard this – he was troubled.  He gathered the chief priests and the scribes together and demanded that they tell him where Christ should be born.  They told him,” He will be born in Bethlehem, for it was written by a prophet.”  King Herod then came to us and asked us to go find the Christ child and return to tell him where the child was so that he may also worship him.

Wiseman #2 -  We departed and followed the star with exceeding great joy.  The star led us to the place where we saw the young child and his mother, Mary. We fell on our knees and worshiped him.  We opened our treasures and presented him our gifts. Our gifts revealed something about whom Jesus is and what he came to do.

Wiseman #1 - I brought Gold.  In our days gold represented “value”.  It is the gift for a king.  Gold, the king of metals is the fit gift for the King of Men, Jesus was born to be our King, but he was not to reign by force, but by love; and He would rule over men’s hearts, not from a throne, but from a cross.

Wiseman #2 - I brought Frankincense.  It is the gift for a Priest.  It was in the Temple worship and at the Temple sacrifices that the sweet perfume of frankincense was used.  The function of a priest is to open the way to God for men.  Jesus opened the way to God; he made it possible for men to enter into the very presence of God.

Wiseman #3 - I brought Myrrh. It is the gift for one who is to die; myrrh was used to embalm the bodies of the dead.  Jesus came into the world to live for men, and in the end, to die for men.  Thereby, He came to give eternal life to men.

Wiseman #1 - As we presented our gifts there upon that Holy night, feelings of great joy filled our hearts.   As precious as these gifts were they were not very practical for a child.  But they did do something for us.

Wiseman #3 - They enabled us to show appreciation, give thanks and remember him in recognition of the divine mission He was to perform to save us all from sin.  As we contemplate and thoughtfully acknowledge this gift of eternal life, the Spirit can bless us with an enlarged understanding of this marvelous gift.

Wiseman #1 - Gratitude for what he did inspires a feeling of thankfulness within us and enlarges our ability to show love to others.  This feeling “of wanting to give, to be of service, to think of others, is sometimes called the “Spirit of Christmas.”  To understand the real meaning of this phrase, we need only remove the last three letters and it becomes the “Spirit of

Christ.”

Wiseman #2 - We have brought candy canes for each child and gifts for each family to help remind you of what the symbols of Christmas mean.  We ask that each family come up to receive their gifts.
