My Ideas for Sharing
Time on,
"My Heavenly Father Loves Me"
Here are some ideas that came to mind…forgive me that they
are random but perhaps they could help get you started. Tweek them as needed:
Music:
What a great opportunity to sing “My Heavenly Father Loves Me”.
(There is a cute handout with the lyrics to this song on Jenny Smith’s
website…it is located
here.
Lesson Help:
A. You could talk about how we are each very important to Heavenly Father. He
loves us very much. In order for us to succeed and learn about him he gave us
families. We are here to learn and grow. You could use an object lesson
called,
“Sandwich in Learning”.
You could build the sandwich in front of the children. In the end, when the
meal is complete you can say, “This sandwich is much like us. Heavenly Father
gives us many tools and means to succeed. He gave us our families, our friends,
scriptures, prophets, etc. so that we can come back to live with him. In the
end we will have become a wonderful and awesome creation, just like this
sandwich.”
B. You could start our your sharing time by asking the children, “How do you
show you love your parents?” Their answers should be much the same as the
parent’s love towards the children. List some of their answers on the board and
perhaps add a few extras they might not think of. “Why is it important to show
our parents love?”
Activity:
A. Play dough. You could give the children “2” minutes (however long) to make a
wonderful and marvelous creation. After the two minutes are up, have a few
children share their creations. Ask if it was hard to create something so
quickly. Explain that Heavenly Father created us and this world in a short
amount of time but He did it because He loved us. Creating each of us
differently and with unique talents and strengths must not have been easy, but
together we can learn and bless each other.
B. You could ask one of the children to come up and help you. Bring one cup
that has some vinegar in it. Tell them that Heavenly Father loves us sooooo
much!! Give the child a spoon that is covered in baking soda. The baking soda
will make the vinegar bubble over, just like Heavenly Father’s love for us…it
overflows. (Make sure to put this on a cookie sheet to minimize mess).
Handout: Here is a
handout I made for
you…it’s not great but it might help.

(You could do a craft along with this poem having them make lambs. Get a
clip out of lamb and have them glue cotton balls on it, etc.)
