Book of Mormon Read-A-Thon

by Joyce Anderson

We had a laurel who last year organized a read-a-thon for her laurel project. She had sign-up sheets for chaperones and also for people to bring in food and snacks. She did it over a 4 day weekend, with reading going on from 7:00a.m Fri. night to 7:00 am Sat and again on Sunday from about 5:00 pm until 5:00 pm Monday. We did it at a member's house, with chaperones coming in about every two hours, except for the overnight hours, when her parents stayed.

Not everyone read the whole time, but some one was reading the whole time and the whole Book of Mormon did get done. Breaks were taken for exercise, music, and eating. It was really a big success and all the youth who participated really said it helped their testimonies.  It was great  to see all the support the rest of the ward gave to the youth so that they could accomplish their goal. It's worth doing!
