Book of Mormon Reading Chart for Children Click here to download the Book of Mormon Reading Chart in Word
My daughter will be turning eight soon and we wanted her to read the Book of Mormon in a manageable way before she gets baptized. We set up the following challenge for her which she accepted readily. She is doing really well, too. We asked her to read a page a day of the Book of Mormon (531 pages) all the way up to her baptism (we started so she would finish the day before her 8th birthday). I prepared a booklet for her where she could mark off when she had read a page (see attached). We have been doing it for the past two weeks and every morning she wakes up, brings the scriptures to me and we read a verse each until we have finished the page. It only takes about 10 minutes but is a manageable time for her and a great start to our day. She then colors in the square for that page and when she finishes each page of the booklet then she will get a special treat (e.g. being taken out for ice cream etc.)
As a side note, I sent the challenge and booklet to aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and grandparents and many have accepted the challenge as well. They often send e-mails to my daughter making mention of the the things they have read that day. She also gets phone calls of encouragement. It is still early, but it is something that I hope will instill good habits in her and help develop an understanding and testimony of the Book of Mormon - plus helping us adults to read it as well.
The booklet should be printed in the following order - page 1 then on the back page 2, then print page 3 and on the back page 4 etc. Then fold it in half.
