I gave this talk at my daughter's baptism.  I printed out the capitol letters of the word BAPTISM - in bubble type letters - each letter taking a whole page.  I had my children paint in the letters in the color and order of the rainbow - since the rainbow represents new birth.  I put the first letter on the board (I used the magnetic chalk board at church to hold them up and chalk to write the word underneath it or to the side if you place the words going down the side of the board).  Then I asked the audience to guess what the letter could stand for.  After a few guesses I would write the word underneath it (or to the side if that works).  Then I would elaborate on the word and read some things I prepared for the word.  It was fun to listen to what the kids would guess- it was very interactive and I could tell everyone enjoyed it and got involved.

Here is the letters and words:

B - Baptism

- Follow Christ's example; 2nd Nephi 31:5-10;keep His commandments; performed by one having authority.

A - All times, all things, all places

- Mosiah 18:9; when we take on the name of  Christ we must choose to be a good example of him at all times, in all things, and in all places

P - Partaking of the sacrament

- Baptism is a big step in progressing and growing from a small child to one who is accountable and responsible for their mistakes. After we are baptized, Christ has given us a way to repent each week by partaking of the sacrament and remembering our promises we made at baptism.

T - Testimony

- Even though 8 years old is young it is not to young to have a testimony. Of course our testimony is always growing and progressing, the testimony of an 8 year old consists of wanting to choose the right.  (Name) has chose the right today in getting baptized.

I - Immersion

- When we are baptized we are fully immersed in and under the surface of the water.  In Romans 6, we learn that this immersion is symbolic of the 'death' of sins and a rebirth of a spiritual life.  I am so grateful for modern revelation that teaches us the correct way of how Christ wants us to do baptisms.

S - Salvation

- We must try our hardest to follow the Lord's plan of salvation, and baptism is one of the first steps on that path.

M - Make covenants or promises

- If we do what we promise, then Christ promises to give us all the blessings we need, even eternal life with Him and with our family.
