Family Home Evening Activity
Idea by Amy Brown

We prepared manila envelopes with labels with a cute picture of a house on it- this was on our invitations and nametags as well! When the girls came in, they picked up their name tag (preprinted) then wrote their names on a label on an envelope! We gathered by the piano and taught a Family Home Evening song while waiting for everyone to arrive - testified that if they worked together with their families to have Family Home Evening, their families would be blessed.

We split into four groups -

** First Vision lesson - we had a recently returned sister missionary teach them the First Vision. They then colored pictures on card stock - that can be used to teach a flannel story version of the lesson for FHE - this will help them pass off a goal in their Faith in God books.

**  Music - our Stake PP make music batons (?) out of dowels, with ribbon and a couple of foam hearts on the end. She taught them how to determine the beat of a song, and how to lead 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8 and gave them little songbooks with all the CSMP songs in it. (another goal in books)

**  Games - our High Councilor did some games that they could do with their families - shaving a balloon covered in shaving cream, making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches blindfolded, and then a relay, where each team has a spoon with a long length of yarn tied to it, each team threads it thru their clothes, shirts anyway, up one, and down the other... (make sense??) and then the race is to undo it to see who wins.

**  FHE Treats - Our other counselor & our Secretary had them make a snowman cupcake treat, found in the
Family Fun magazine (they have great stuff - also a good magazine, for $10 a year) Cupcakes pre-made, and some marshmallows cut - orange slices, fruit rollup, Jr mints & peppermint patties all created a snowman with a top hat, atop a cupcake. The girls enjoyed that - and they took the instructions home.

So, in each room, except the games, they received something, that when all together, they could put on a Family Home Evening for their family.
