The invitations were "wanted" posters that said:
"WANTED Secret Service Agents" and then all the details of our
activity. We put a clip art of a "spy" with a trench coat/cap and a
magnifying glass. I've also seen an idea for an invitation that is in
a small manila coin envelope labeled "Top Secret" with the following
inside: You are wanted in the "Secret Service". The details. At the
bottom it said: This message will not self-destruct.
Sing to the tune of Ghost Busters:
When someone's down-and feeling blue;
What ya gonna do? Secret Service!!!
The shoes you find-really need a shine;
What ya gonna do? Secret Service!!!
There's papers and papers- all over Church;
What ya gonna do? Secret Service!!!
The bed's not made- Tom's late for school;
What ya gonna do? Secret Service!!!
When Mom's not able-to set the table;
What ya gonna do? Secret Service!!!
When the neighbor's beat- and needs a treat;
What ya gonna do? Secret Service!!!
Leaders wear trench coats, sunglasses, hats may carry magnifying
glasses. Upon arrival, each child is presented with a "Secret
Service" badge when they arrive at "Headquarters". Make them
different colors to break them into squads.
Ahead of time make a briefcase handout from a file folders with a
handle taped on (use another folder to create the handle). On a
piece of paper write "Top Secret" on it. Make an identifying
sheet with their "code name", birthday, phone number, and "identifying
marks". Draw 5 boxes at bottom of sheet and take their fingerprints.
Take a Polaroid picture of them with those funny glasses with the fake
nose and mustache. (Don't forget a picture of the side profile!)
Of course, the little ones would LOVE that! Place picture inside
briefcase/folder.
The children go to different stations or "missions" where they learn
how to perform different acts of service in relay race fashion. Such
as making a bed, frosting a cookie to give away, polishing shoes,
straightening a closet, setting the table, vacuum (crunch up a chip
first), pick up toys, make a peanut butter /jelly sandwich w/sprinkles
(for fun) (the sandwich with a juice box is the snack for the
activity).
My favorite thing we did was to take canning lids (you know the gold
"Ball" type) and placed a round circle on it that said, "You have been
served by a Secret Service Agent", to leave at-the-scene of service.
These lids worked great be cause they were sturdy enough and could be
reused by the person who just received a "service" and the process of
serving continues. The kids thought the lids were cool. We gave them
each a few to take home to put in their attach cases and place around
their house as they performed secret acts of, you guessed it, service! |
