Princess Poem
Author Unknown

In a world long ago
That you can't remember
A world that's erased from your mind
On your Father's knee
You waited to see
The life here on earth you would find.
He told you so much
As you walked hand in hand.
He was so kind, so gentle, so tall.
The counsel He gave
How I wish you could only recall.
The time came to leave
How excited you were
For within your hand was a small golden key.
With a tear in His eye
He kissed you good-bye
And whispered, "A Queen someday you will be."
You soon came to earth
and all was forgotten.
So many new faces
A million new places
So many locks
For your key to turn
A princess for now
But there's so much more.
So hold fast to that small golden key.
With the work that you've done
One day you'll become
A Queen for eternity.
** I strung a small gold key on iridescent gold ribbon and
punched two holes at the top of the page and tied the key onto it. Some of the
girls took the key off and wore it as a necklace. It made a great handout for
them to remember our princess theme.
