Family Olympics
Idea by Kate Latu

We are having family Olympics in the cultural hall in June. Families will be given a blank large roll of newspaper printing paper to make a family banner. Families will compete in all kinds of activities. Each athlete will have a 5x7 index card with a ribbon or yarn to place around their neck. The card will be divided into squares representing the venues of competition. When the venue is completed the staffer (Young Men/Young Women) will place a sticker or a number if appropriate i.e. how far the ball was thrown. When all the competition is completed the Primary Child will go the the awards area and stand on the Winners Box and receive a
medal and get a picture. We are making some sort of background for a nice picture. Following all the athletic fun we are going to have highlighted Gospel Athletes and praise the kids who are achieving in Activity Days, Scouts, Primary or any LDS accomplishment. Like reading the scriptures, mastering the 13 Articles of Faith, etc. Refreshments will be the standard athletic drink-bottle of water or a cup of Gatorade. All the equipment you will need is in someone's garage or basement...or attic depending upon where you live. I have done it multiple times for organizations. It is wonderful fun for you girl and for the families and the best part it is very inexpensive to have such good fun.
