Summer Fun!
by
Louise
We had a really fun one during the summer...We had a picnic
with them, had a bubble gum blowing contest, and then played water
volleyball...That is where you have water balloons for the "ball" and each
couple has a towel. They hold the towel between them and when a balloon is
launched over the net, they have to catch it in the towel and launch it back
over. It was so fun...and of course it ended in one of the biggest water
fights I have ever seen! We had father's that I didn't have a clue were so
vicious and merciless! I was pretty save as I was wielding the camera for
memory making photos....Until they held my arms, stripped me of my camera
and dowsed me with a 5 gal bucket! We had some unforgettable moments and a
lot on camera...then we had a scrapbook night and made pages with our
pictures... that was a lot of fun and everyone laughed and joked and shared
stories as they remembered how much fun they had! We were able to have it at
one of the leaders backyards....One word of advice...bring a lot of extra
towels and some garbage bags...(for everyone to put on their car seats to
drive home!)
'Jell-O Snarfing' -- hands behind back, equal amounts of Jell-O on each
plate, face to plate, and snarf! Person finished first wins.
'Guess Who? '-- we asked the dads ahead of time to tell us one crazy thing
they had done when they were younger. We put them on slips of paper and read
them one by one, having the girls vote on who they thought it was. One of
the dads had held his little sister by the ankle over the toilet when he was
mad at her. He's a really serious, nice brother - you'd never think! The
girls loved learning about the dads.
'Tapioca Splash' -- everyone's favorite. The fathers lay on their backs,
with an ice cream cone in their mouth (opening facing up). The girls stood
on a chair over their respective father, with a bowl of tapioca pudding and
a spoon. The race was to see who could fill the cone first. Then they
switched (father on chair, daughter on floor) They had lousy aim, and it was
hysterical.
'Shave a balloon' -- put shaving cream on a blown up balloon. Race to shave
it first.
'Food Relay' -- have identical items in two different paper bags. Put one
bag each on a chair at the opposite side of the room. Two teams -- One
person at a time races to the bag, pulls something out, eats it completely
(opens their mouth to prove it), then runs back so the next person can go.
We had: a big dill pickle, a juice box, 4 saltine crackers, a banana, a
balloon (blow it up and tie it), a piece of bubble gum (chew and blow a
bubble), a fruit roll-up, etc.
