Each One of Us Is
Unique
Idea by Stefani Neeley

I started out by playing the game with the girls
sitting in chairs in a circle and one girl starts by standing in the
middle of the circle. She thinks of something she can say about
herself...I have blue eyes, or I have been to Hawaii, or I like
spaghetti...etc. And everyone who has the same thing, or like or thing in
common has to get up and find a new chair. The girl in the middle tries to grab
a chair as well. Whoever is left gets to be the middle girl now. I thought this
would get too crazy but we played it for at least 25 minutes and it was so fun.
Even the girls who were more shy loved it. Then with our chairs in the
circle I had each girl take a Ziploc baggie I had pre-filled with a snack such
as: chocolate chips, pretzels, mini marshmallows, butterscotch chips, cran-raisins, peanuts, m&ms, etc. I had enough bags for each girl to pour the
contents into a big bowl in the middle of the circle. This was called our
"friendship mix" to show how each one of us in different and unique but we all
go good together. Then I gave a cup full to each girl in her Ziploc baggie. I
closed by reading the story "The Crayon Box that Talked" by Shane DeRolf about
the crayons that learned how good it is to be different and how they
complimented each other because of their colors. (You could probably rent it
from the library). I had purchased the 24 box of
crayons for 10 cents at Wal-Mart and gave each girl one. It was a great
activity.
