Calendar of Ideas
by Kathleen Revoir / ga11062006

I've been working on my calendar for awhile now and
have come up with some activities that I thought I would share. We
take each of the three topics in the Faith in God booklet and do something
pertaining to those subjects four times a year. Although this year, I've
decided to not meet in July at all, and only have one meeting in June and
August. In years past, those were our hardest months with vacations and
school
starting, etc. The extra few activities that we'll have we'll fill in with
those that don't take two meetings to complete.
LEARNING AND LIVING THE GOSPEL:
(1) Talk about the
6 {or 9} B's and have a hand out to
remind the girls what they are.
(2) Have a "T" party where we will actually go to the temple grounds, have a
picnic lunch and talk about temples, testimony, etc. While there, I'll take
a picture of each girl standing in front of the temple to use later on.
(3) Talk about
modesty and make clothing for
paper dolls. We will also talk about
appropriate talk in public.
(4) Clean out the nursery closet and talk about
sin
and
repentance and the
atonement...all while
cleaning!
SERVING OTHERS
(1) Color some
ABC books that are on the LDS
Humanitarian site
(2) Make some
children picture books that are also
on the Humanitarian site.
(3) Talk about people who serve and how we could help them (military,
nurses, police, etc.)
(4) Talk about the lonely and the friendless, pay attention to those who
come to church alone or sit alone, talk about how we could cheer these
people up, each girl will pick one and we'll make cookies and a nice card
and deliver to them...anonymously.
DEVELOPING TALENTS
(1) Make the
teddy bears found on the
Humanitarian site
(2) Make a
dish soap apron for Mom's day
and there's also a
poem that goes along with the
apron.
(3) We are going to take a cheap frame, cut out small pictures of each of
the prophets and decoupage those around the frame, put Jesus Christ at the
top center and then put the picture of each girl standing in front of the
temple in the frame for Father's Day.
(4) We are going to sew a pillow with a Christmas tree made out of different
colors of green fleece, buttons for the ornaments and that can be the gift
they give their family's for Christmas. Maybe talk about writing thank you
notes at the same time.
