A year's worth of Activities

JANUARY
Play Pictionary—focus on being a good sport—talk to the girls about the
focus for the year (My Gospel Standards) and what to bring, how to act, etc.
Give them their AD folders and encourage them to bring them each week
(folders have scripture, prayer, and AD goal charts, place for handouts,
inspirational thoughts, etc.)
Faith in God Goal: Learning and Living the Gospel, Own activity
Journals and journal jars—lesson on importance of journals, decorate
composition books for journals, challenge girls to write every day for a
week—have girls set goals for the year and write them down.
FEBRUARY
Faith in God Goal: Serving Others, Goal #1 (tie into
Valentine's Day)
"Read and discuss the parable of the Good Samaritan…plan and complete a
service project that helps a family member or neighbor" Heart
Attack—girls make hearts on sticks and then we stick them in
someone's yard who needs some cheer or support
Crab soccer at church—maybe earlier time so we can get the cultural hall
without problem
MARCH
Faith in God Goal: Developing Talents, Goal #4--"Make and item from
wood, metal, etc…..display your work for others to see"
Decorate frames for pictures of girls at the temple—tie into Easter—Easter
lesson
SATURDAY—CHANGE FROM USUAL WED.
Trip to temple grounds, discuss the temple, take pictures of the girls to
put into their frames (also for display at Mother/Daughter activity)
APRIL
Faith in God Goal: Serving Others, Goal #6—CHANGE FROM NORMAL WEEK
(due to Spring Break)
"Learn about and practice good manners and courtesy" in preparation for next
week's "T" party with Moms.
Mother/Daughter "T" party—T is for temple, testimony, terrific, etc.—
garden-party themed dinner. Display girls' temple frames/pictures, recognize
their accomplishments so far, play a mother/daughter game,
flower pens in a pot

MAY
Faith in God Goal: Learning and Living the Gospel, Goal #7—Word
of Wisdom, and
Article of Faith #9. Discuss
healthy food and life choices, make a poster of healthy and unhealthy foods
/ activities, do a physical activity (calisthenics, aerobics?)—(look for
stories, games on
www.lds.org)
FRIDAY—CHANGE FROM USUAL WED.
"Flip Flop Kick Off" Sleepover—play get-to-know-you games, karaoke,
make rag-tie flip flops (tie
cloth strips onto flip flops),
pizza—each girl bring a treat to share
JUNE
Faith in God Goal: Developing Talents, Goal #2--"Learn to sing, play,
or lead a song from Children's Songbook"
Learn the songs "Books
of the New Testament", "Books
of the Book of Mormon", lesson on using
the scriptures (topical guide, dictionary, etc.)— have a little scripture
chase with their new knowledge of where to find the books of New Testament
and Book of Mormon.
Bike safety at park—have someone come and explain bike safety, how to
signal, proper gear, then have fun riding around the park.
JULY
Faith in God Goal: Learning and Living the Gospel, Own
activity—CHANGE FROM NORMAL WEEK (due to Independence Day)
Lesson on
President Hinckley's 6 B's—make
booklet and
bookmark, see
handouts on

(5 minute devotional)—Print Family Home Evening lesson for girls to give
their families.

AUGUST
Swimming at Bishop's house—bring a friend, Root beer floats
Faith in God Goal: Developing Talents Goal #4—Start 6 B's Art Project
SEPTEMBER
Continue work on 6 B's project, or play 6 B's Jeopardy and work on 6 Be's
skit
Faith in God Goal: Serving Others, Own activity
Clean nursery toys
OCTOBER
Faith in God Goal: Learning and Living the Gospel, Own activity
Work on Articles of Faith with Articles of Faith flip cards with keywords (The
Idea Door), pass off Articles of Faith,
work on 6 B's skit for Recognition Night.
RECOGNITION NIGHT WITH PARENTS-"BEE" ALL YOU CAN BE
Display 6 B's project, present 6 B's skit. Potluck dessert. Give girls a "CTR"
charm (Charming
Gifts) to add to their key chains for
scriptures to represent our focus on "My Gospel Standards" this year.
NOVEMBER
Faith in God Goal: Serving Others, Own activity
Sing at nursing home (change time to earlier)
Gratitude lesson and activity (Thanksgiving)
DECEMBER
Faith in God Goal: Developing Talents, Own activity
Christmas craft and activity—Learn about Christmas traditions around the
world, watch "The Nativity" DVD—do this at someone's house
